East Bay politics heats up again (3/30/09, Front Page)

Lisa Vorderbrueggen, CCTimes
The CCTimes puts a nice map showing Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher’s gerrymandered district. What frustrates us is the lack of coverage this gerrymandering got 8 years ago when it was drawn up. Instead of hammering the California legislature, the CCTimes ignored it so we’re stuck with another uncompetitive district that spreads out and makes [...]

Democrats fear departure (3/29/09, page A17)

Lisa Vorderbrueggen, CCTimes Political Editor
Lisa has a section today titled, “A Charmed Life,” covering State Senator Mark DeSaulnier’s rapid move up the political ladder. Lisa points out that most politicians have to wait years to make these moves. What Lisa fails to point out is how the incompetent DeSaulnier managed to move up the ladder [...]

A police officer’s view of the Oakland police officers memorial (3/27/09, not in CCTimes)

“Just a couple little observations from today’s OPD funeral you probably won’t see on TV. Thirty-three thousand police officers and civilians from all over the USA and Canada heard a number of politicians, family members and OPD officers speak. None of the tepid politicians (Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein) received so much as a single applause. [...]

“Tea Parties” ignored by CCTimes (3/26/09, not in CCTimes)

Six “tea parties” took place over the past weekend. Orlando, Raleigh, Maryland, Lexington, Virginia and Connecticut. Another 150 are set for April 15.
Why is it the CCTimes always has space of the liberal protests (ACORN) but not one lead by taxpayers?

Mileage tax gains steam in Congress (3/22/09, Front Page)

Denis Cuff, CCTimes
Easily the most disappointing work done by Denis.
He managed to ignore the following issues associated with this tax per mile scheme:
1) Privacy. We don’t care what the government says, they will know how much you drive, where you drive to, when you drive. All of those will become taxable. Also, where is the liberal [...]

Despite economy, Californians still cheer Obama (3/19/09, page AA3)

MediaNews Wire Service
What a biased headline. Only a few hundred people were in attendance and of course they cheered. They love Obama no matter what. But here’s the point: When Bush came to visit he would also have a few hundred  (or a few thousand) in attendance and get this, they would also be cheering!
That’s natural [...]

Dem Sen. Dodd protected AIG bonuses (3/19/09, not in CCTimes)

Seems Democratic Senator Chris Dodd was responsible for an amendment to the AIG bailout that allowed those bonuses to be paid. You won’t see that in the CCTimes.
Why would Sen. Dodd be so generous with taxpayer money? Because he was the largest recipient of AIG contributions in 2008 ($103,000). You won’t see that in the [...]
