New Orleans: $127 billion taxpayer dollars so far (8/31/07, not in CCTimes)
$127 billion dollars so far and New Orleans is still a disaster.
That’s $425,000 per current resident!
This is the problem with government intervention: It saps the will of the people to fix the problems the way they should be fixed.
Moreover, why hasn’t the CCTimes run a story on this boondoggle?
Group says steel plant emits toxic metal traces (8/30/07, page A3)
Doug Oakley, MediaNews
Questions for Doug:
How many people work at the steel mill?
What is the average salary of the worker at this mill?
Where will these workers find new jobs if the mill is closed?
What is the goal of Global Community Monitor?
Where does Global Community Monitor get most of its funding (other than the taxpayer grant to [...]
Skepticism greets Bush in return to New Orleans (8/30/07, Front Page)
When are these New Orleans bums going to fix their own problems?
Why does President Bush have to do it for them?
I don’t recall the feds having to come out here and fix the Bay Bridge after the 89 quake.
CCTimes again implies that the slow recovery in New Orleans is Bush’s fault, with no mention of [...]
Israeli attack on rocket launchers kills three children (8/30/07, page A22)
Joel Greenberg, Chicago Tribune
Now I know CCTimes publishes stories about Palestinian terrorists launching rockets into Israel, but it just never seems like the headlines tell us how many children (or mothers or fathers) these rockets kill.
This headline implies that Israel should not defend itself against cowards who hide behind children. Call these terrorist pigs cowards [...]
Army seeks Guard’s help in recruiting (8/29/07, page A13)
Lolita C. Baldor, AP
Hey Lolita, terms like “long and unpopular” are subjective. I’m not sure which journalism school you attended, but it would have been helpful if you had gone to class once in a while so that you could understand that professional journalist stick to the facts and not use ”colorful” terms like “long and unpopular.”
Pretty sad [...]
Kids’ Engagement Day in Iraq (8/28/07, not in CCTimes)
Another great story about our great Marines in Iraq. You won’t see enough of this in CCTimes.
Girl hit by SUV on way to school (8/28/07, Front Page)
Was that SUV driving itself?
Next thing you know they’ll be wanting to outlaw SUVs.
Can I use that as self-defense if I hit someone with my SUV? :”Judge, I didn’t hit the girl, the SUV did!”
It’s as if the headline writer at CCTimes wants to outlaw SUVs by making the inanimate object out to be a killer.
What [...]
