Given the nature of the stories regarding the governor race, it’s easy to say that Harmon and Managing Editor Kevin Keane have taken sides and are doing everything possible to make Jerry Brown look good.

In the past 3 weeks we’ve counted 4 positive stories on Jerry Brown. How his campaign looks brilliant for waiting until September to get started. How he was responsible for curing cancer. How he’s taken a populist approach to his campaign by lying about how Meg Whitman only wants to cut taxes for the rich.

Jerry Brown and his global warming extortion programs will drive newspapers in California out of business. We’ll see the economics-challenged Keane and his henchmen in the unemployment line if Brown wins. But we sure won’t see balanced and objective reporting when it comes to Meg Whitman. Perhaps Keane and Harmon are mysogynists?

In March 2001, Mezvinsky was indicted and later pleaded guilty to 31 of 69 charges of bank fraud, mail fraud, and wire fraud. Nearly $10 million was involved in the crimes. Shortly after his indictment, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but the judge at his trial disallowed a mental illness defense. After serving five years in federal prison, he was released in April 2008. He is expected to remain on federal probation until 2011, and owes substantial restitution to his victims.

Here are the details from Snopes.

So we’ll fill in the gap with this photo of the beautiful outgoing Miss Universe displaying the pre-socialist flag of Venezuela. In effect, a protest against the oppressive dictator Hugo Chavez.

Check out these quotes you won’t see in the Contra Costa Times:

Intel CEO Paul Otellini:
“I think this group (White House and Congress) does not understand what it takes to create jobs. And I think they’re flummoxed by their experiment in Keynesian economics not working.”
“I can tell you definitively that it costs $1 billion more per factory for me to build, equip and operate a semiconductor manufacturing facility in the U.S. And 90% of that added cost is due to taxes and regulations that other countries don’t have.”

Illinois Tool Works CEO David Speer:
“I could borrow $2 billion tomorrow for 3.5%, but what am I going to do with it?”

Verizon CEO Ian Seidenberg:
Tax hikes, regulations and policy shifts, “harm our ability . . . to grow private-sector jobs in the U.S.”

Business in Brief, 1 paragraph

When George W. Bush was president and unemployment rose to 5% just after 9/11, the liberal Contra Costa Times would make giant pronouncements on the front page of how horrible the umemployment rate was and how Bush’s policies would prevent recovery.

But now that we have a socialists in the White House AND his policies are obviously not helping unemployment, the CCTimes hides the unemployment rate information on the 2nd page of the Business section with a small headline. Hey, we can’t have umemployed people on the Front Page when we can have ANOTHER worthless story about gay marriage there.

Kevin Keane, this is why more people stop buying your newspaper. You’re too focused on liberal social issues (like gay marriage and global warming) instead of hard news.
